A new online resource was recently launched by the Propane Education & Research Council to help grounds maintenance departments in the public sector learn how propane-powered equipment can enhance their operations. Among the improvements cited by PERC that can result from a switch from more traditional fuels are increased productivity, lower fuel costs and reduced emissions.

"Whether we're talking about a large city, small rural township, or even a university, grounds maintenance departments are constantly asked to do more with less," said Jeremy Wishart, PERC deputy director of business development. "Propane mowers help maintenance crews be more productive and efficient with their ever-shrinking budgets and time constraints."

The new page ( on the organization's website contains video testimonials from a county maintenance department and a public agency already successfully using propane; stories detailing real-world experiences of propane mower operators at a university and municipality: infographics illustrating the operational, financial, and environmental benefits possible from a changeover to a propane mower fleet; and contact information to learn more about getting started with the technology.
