Millennium series self-watering reservoir planters have a water reservoir in the bottom of the planter with perforated tubes or columns that extend up to up to the divider or ???floor?? that holds the soil. The perforations allow water into the tubes but are small enough to limit soil erosion back into the water chamber. The planters are designed to store 8 to 10 inches of water in the reservoir and under normal growing conditions these units only need to be filled about once a month. (There is an overflow drain just below the soil level to make sure that the planter is never over-saturated.)
