Public Awareness Campaign for Landscape Architecture
Many people attended this informative, albeit brief, event.???????(R)?EUR??,,????'?EUR??,,?EUR Professionals from Missouri and Kansas were happy to share their experiences as landscape architects.???????(R)?EUR??,,????'?EUR??,,?EUR They encouraged drivers to honk as they drove past the site and engaged passersby with literature and free water bottles. Wichita, Kansas landscape architects held their rally at Old Town Square (Warren Theatre Plaza) located in front of the Old Town Warren. Professionals in Kansas City, Mo. joined together in the Country Club Plaza at the J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain.

MetroGREEN Celebration
More than 20 years ago, PGASLA hosted a legacy project charrette as a gift to the community for having hosted their National Convention. That legacy project identified concentric rings of greenways radiating out from the core of our metropolitan area, and was drawn into a plan that became known as the MetroGreen plan. Today this plan is actively being referenced for connecting communities, protecting natural resources, preserving open space, providing recreation and transportation opportunities and more.

Attendees learned how the plan began, where we are today and what the future holds. A few distinguished guests spoke at the event including Stephanie Rolley, a landscape architecture professor at Kansas State University. She and her students were responsible for developing the original concepts for the plan.

On April 9, local landscape architects worked alongside other community groups, volunteers, and garden enthusiasts to build a native plant garden.

PGASLA celebrated NLAM by hosting a Chapter Field Day at Blue Valley Park in Kansas City, Mo. Native plants for this garden included aster, little bluestem and prairie dropseed. Volunteers built this native plant demonstration garden adjacent to the existing park pavilion.
