Water Wise Irrigation Webinar with Calsense, Jeff Drongowski
On October 5th, Calsense's Jeff Drongowski presented a live and recorded webinar titled, "Central Irrigation Control and Flow Sensing" which discussed the positives of central irrigation and how it can be beneficial in commercial and municipal landscapes for cost and environmental sustainability.
Drongowski explained that central irrigation control can conserve up to 30% of water use, time spent maintaining systems, and money. He went on to show that while water conservation is important, public spaces are just as important to our communities.
Attendees heard about three different studies, their initial problems, and how central irrigation control was able to mitigate these issues. Drongowski emphasized that water conservation through this process is only successful when done correctly.

Webinar Description:
In this session, attendees will learn what central control is relative to responsible irrigation management and how it can be used to address inefficiencies in managing landscape water use. We will also address flow monitoring, which can be managed by central control. We will look at the use of weather-based programming and remote monitoring in a central control and water budget forecasting context and demonstrate how these elements can be utilized to save on water, labor, and overall operational costs. In the face of ongoing drought, rising labor costs and staffing issues, creating irrigation system efficiencies is crucial. This session provides tips and tools to implement those operational efficiencies, using less water and more efficient labor to save money.
Jeff Drongowski
Jeff Drongowski is a passionate advocate for a sustainable and equitable future for all. A LEED Green Associate, a Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper, and a graduate of the UCLA Extension Sustainability Program, he serves as Co-Chair of the Climate Business Working Group of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Climate Reality Project and is active with the US Green Building Council and Net Impact. As a Technical Sales Representative at Calsense, Jeff believes California has an obligation to lead the nation on water conservation matters and is working hard to make that happen through educational presentations, local advocacy, and creative projects.
