Congratulations to the 2027 ASLA President Gretchen Wilson!

In her words: "Together, we have a real opportunity to elevate the voice of landscape
architecture ... to show how our work heals places, connects people, and restores harmony."

Her leadership seeks to strengthen ASLA's visibility with policymakers, students, and the public alike. We look forward to watching Gretchen inspire deeper engagement within our professional community and beyond, and anticipate continued collaboration with her and the ASLA (See page 74).

At the national level, the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) marks a historic win for the business of landscape architecture (See page 65). With strong advocacy by ASLA and allied organizations, BBB includes several long-fought victories: the expansion of 529 savings plans for professional certifications, the continuation of tax-exempt municipal bonds and nonprofit status, and the restoration of full R&D expensing and equipment deduction. These reforms directly support design firms, public sector work, and local governments. In its response, the ASLA noted how this bill confirms that "our voice continues to be heard in federal policymaking." In short, BBB ensures a more stable and supportive environment for the economic and educational growth of the profession.

Another victory for future PLAs ... Congratulations to CLASS Fund for closing in on its $2 million endowment milestone (See page 80). This remarkable achievement is the result of decades of work by educators, practitioners, and supporters committed to the next generation of Landscape Architects. Thank you for your passionate and charitable support of future industry innovators ... They are literally a few inches away! Let's get 'em there! Visit classfund.org.

Cheers to many more years!

God Bless . . .
